Client: Atlanta Botanical Garden

Objective: To build a 600-car parking structure in Atlanta's premiere park amid hostile public opposition.

Angry and sometimes hostile residents accused the Atlanta Botanical Garden of "paving paradise and putting up a parking lot" on a one-acre hillside in Atlanta's premiere Piedmont Park.

When Dickerson Communications was retained, the opposing forces were well-funded and organized. Dickerson Communications expertly crafted the case for an environmentally advanced parking structure that would be built into a hillside shrouded by trees, and that would result in a net gain in green space.

We took our message to hostile neighborhood groups across the city, opposing journalists, environmentalists, and park enthusiasts, and finally to Atlanta's mayor and City Council, which voted to approve the project. Today, the parking structure provides access to the Atlanta Botanical Garden and Piedmont Park for thousands of visitors.
